Pinguicula esseriana is a perennial heterophyllous butterwort native to Mexico, admired for its compact and seasonal rosettes. In winter, it forms 35–40 succulent, narrow leaves that protect it during dormancy, while in summer it produces about 30 broader carnivorous leaves capable of catching small insects such as gnats and fruit flies.

This species was named in honor of German botanist Professor Karl Esser, recognizing his contributions to botanical study. Small but fascinating, Pinguicula esseriana is perfect for terrariums, windowsills, or specialty collections of Mexican butterworts.

With its adaptability and ornamental charm, this species makes an excellent choice for collectors seeking both rarity and beauty.
