Rhyncholaeliocattleya Sandra Cordero is a new, large-flowered hybrid resulting from the cross (Rlc. Haw Yuan Gold × Rlc. Fort Watson). As a Rhyncholaeliocattleya, it is known for producing impressive blooms and follows standard Cattleya care.
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Provide strong light to encourage blooming, such as a south-facing window with some sheer curtain protection.
- Temperature: Intermediate to warm. Maintain temperatures between 68-86°F (20-30°C) during the day and a drop of about 10-15°F (6-8°C) at night.
- Humidity: Moderate (50-70%). Good air movement is essential, especially when humidity is higher, to prevent rot.
- Watering: Water thoroughly when the potting mix is approaching dryness. During the active growth periods (summer), watering will be more frequent than in the resting period (winter).
Additional Notes
The parentage includes a high percentage of Cattleya dowiana, suggesting the flowers are likely to be large, fragrant, and exhibit a variable golden or yellow tones with a prominent contrasting lip. This is generally an easy-to-bloom orchid suitable for home growers.
